Daily life has changed with the quarantine to limit the spread of the Coronavirus. Now we are looking for what was normal: here is “Come aria”, a collective book that reminds us of “things that we lack and we will find again soon”. Proceeds to support the activities of the National Civil Protection Department.
Everyday life changed for everyone on March 9, 2020, when the government imposed a national quarantine to limit the spread of the Coronavirus . No one would have ever imagined such a change in habits, of all. Routine marries other rhythms and what was previously experienced with normality is now absent. Here comes ” Come aria “, a collective book that tells all those ” things that we miss and will find again soon “. Now available on Amazon in print and ebook versions .
The initiative was born from a simple phone call to Cristiano Carriero : to create a book full of stories in order to donate all the proceeds to those who are working tirelessly to help people . When I picked up the phone to call, I said to myself: “It would be great, but in my opinion no one will have the time and desire”. Yes, because usually we are all happy to see positive initiatives, but not used to actively participate. And instead.
But I’ve never been so happy to be wrong.
In a short time, forces are joined and many adhesions are welcomed. The Accento Acuto group (born from students of the LA Content Academy Narration course ) had already begun to collect comments and considerations from many users on social media , involving some communication experts and writers . The editorial coordination was thus managed by Alida Melacarne, Eleonora Usai, Cristina Soldano, Lorena Carella, Giancarla Trizio and Liliana Brucato. The goal is one: to overcome all loneliness and shorten distances by gathering different views on the quarantine condition we are experiencing.
This line-up is joined by a courageous publisher, Les Flaneurs , born in 2015 thanks to a group of young literature lovers. Other authors join in with enthusiasm and within two weeks the first draft is ready.
As if we were immortal
But have you ever imagined that one day you would enjoy going down to take out the trash?
That your neighbor, the one low and compact like a condensing boiler, would become a champion of running? It doesn’t matter if the last time he ran was in elementary school: nobody can put Bosch in a corner.
And of the Italian funnel rows, do we want to talk about them? The last time I took a Ryanair flight there were people crowded together like we were at a Vasco concert and there were beers and free pork sandwiches. Now you might as well miss the funnel line and that cute ragù smell coming from the armpit of the guy who yells “Hey, I don’t have priority, where do I go?”
No, you couldn’t imagine it. Nobody could. Not even I who have been preparing for a lifetime for the zombie apocalypse. Eh, laugh, laugh, but no one thought we would arrive at a hushed and quarantined world. Anything could happen.
Thus begins my story for “Come aria” . I’ll be honest: when it all started I was fighting my father’s cosmic pessimism and the idea of a life in quarantine on the phone. I had to change my mind as the days went by, but I was able to find new ways to experience the lockdown that will forever mark our memories. I am left with only one doubt, while I wait for “ the things we miss and we will find again soon “.
Will we have learned anything from this experience? Perhaps this will be precisely the question that remains in the reader’s hands.
I like to think that yes, we will have learned something. Among the stories you laugh, cry, you can even reflect. But it is within the walls of the house that the real experience of this pandemic is taking place. And who knows what we’ll find in the next normal.
